Teaching 4th grade art:

Over the next few months, I have the opportunity to integrate art in a 4th grade classroom. I will be integrating art with language arts. In the class right now, they are reading a book called "Blue Fingers" about a young boy who becomes a ninja. As the students read this book, they will work on creating a comic book. Each week they will need to summarize what they have read and put the summary into pictures. Each week that I go in, I will teach them a different element of art, show them how they can incorporate it into their comic, and have them work on another page of their comic book. My goal is that by the end of my time working with them, they will have gained the ability to understand and summarize what they have read and also have more confidence in their ability to use the different elements of art in their own artwork.
